Kid’s Studies
Some of us are “left brain thinkers” and some of us are “right brain thinkers.” And, for good reason, some of us have trained to be capable of thinking with both sides of the brain. You will see the importance of this as you read through this information.
The human brain is vast and complex. It contains over one hundred billion neurons, which are capable of electrical and chemical communication with tens of thousands of other nerve cells. Nerve cells in turn rely on some quadrillion synaptic connections for their communications.
Thought or thinking is a mental process which allows beings to model the world, and so to deal with it effectively according to their goals, plans, ends and desires. Words referring to similar concepts and processes include cognition, sentience, consciousness, idea, and imagination. Thinking involves the deeply cerebral manipulation of information, as when we form concepts, engage in problem solving, reason and make decisions. Thinking is a higher cognitive function and the analysis of thinking processes is part of cognitive psychology.
The following table illustrates the differences between left-brain and right-brain thinking:
| |
| Logical | | Random |
| Sequential | | Intuitive |
| Rational | | Holistic |
| Analytical | | Synthesizing |
| Objective | | Subjective |
| Looks at parts | | Looks at wholes |
Studies have shown that individuals that think with their right brain, tend to be more artsy, musical, have more insight, imagination, and think three-dimensionally. On the other hand, individuals that think with their left brain, tend to be more skilled in language speaking and writing, mathematics, science and logical reasoning. But putting the two worlds together will enhance comprehensive levels in all areas because if both sides of the brain are stimulated more frequently, the desire to want to learn more increases significantly.
Stress Is in Our World More Now Than Ever!
Our children live in a day in age where they have to worry about things we did not have to necessarily worry about as parents and/or teachers had to while growing up. The stress level in families have sky rocketed and the quality time we take to be with our kids is extremely crucial. It is important that we are able to take the time to teach them about these valuable lessons as early in life as we can, so they can use these skills and be able to apply them wherever necessary when challenged to make difficult decisions all throughout their lives.
